DELLONA, Wis. (WFRV) – One person was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being knocked unconscious in a UTV crash in Wisconsin on Tuesday morning.
According to the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a report at around 9:15 a.m. of a UTV rollover crash with ejection on Coon Bluff Road, north of County Road P in the Town of Dellona.
Firefighters rescue man from a Wisconsin river, no major injuries
First responders arrived on the scene to find a severely damaged UTV lying on its side on the east side of Coon Bluff Road. The female operator had been ejected around 30 yards from where the vehicle came to rest and was unconscious, suffering a serious head injury.
The operator was transported by Med-Flight with life-threatening injuries to a hospital in Madison. Her name is being withheld as the investigation continues.
Preliminary findings suggest the woman was operating the UTV south on Coon Bluff Road when she attempted a passing maneuver on another vehicle. She entered the ditch and over-corrected, causing the UTV to roll over several times. The woman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and speed and operator inexperience are believed to be factors.
