IOWA COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – A pair of deputies in Wisconsin helped a little surprise traveler on its journey across the street on Thursday.
A snapping turtle in Iowa County was attempting to cross a rural road; however, with the risk posed to both the animal and vehicles, Iowa County Sheriff’s Deputies Havlik and Liddell helped guide the turtle to the other side.

“With a little care and teamwork, the turtle was out of harm’s way and back on its journey,” the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook.
The post included the following tips if you see a turtle on the road:
- Slow down
- Provide space for it
- If safe, move it in the direction it was going
If the animal is large, aggressive and/or in a dangerous spot, call local authorities who may be able to help.
