MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) – One day after Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Aaron Civale hinted at a trade after being moved to the bullpen, Civale was sent to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for former top prospect Andrew Vaughn.
On Friday morning, the Brewers announced a trade with the White Sox that will send 30-year-old pitcher Civale and cash for 1B/DH/OF Andrew Vaughn.
Vaughn, 27, was drafted third overall in the 2019 MLB Draft by the White Sox and has a career 77 home runs, 293 RBI, and a .248 batting average. Vaughn had been struggling lately and had been demoted to Triple-A after slashing .189/.218/.314 with 5 home runs in his last 193 plate appearances.

Civale, on the other hand, has also had his fair share of struggles on the mound in 2025 and was recently sent to the bullpen to make room in the starting rotation for top prospect Jacob Misiorowski.
In the 2025 campaign, Civale started five games for the Brew Crew with a 4.91 ERA across 22 innings pitched, paired with 23 hits and seven walks allowed. Civale went 1-2 in those five starts.
Vaughn will be behind Rhys Hoskins at first base, Christian Yelich at designated hitter, and amongst a fairly deep outfield.
