MANITOWOC COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – A former Lieutenant with the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office was found guilty in a case that stemmed from an internal audit after entering a no contest plea on Thursday.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office said in a release last year that 52-year-old David Remiker worked with the county’s Metro Drug Unit, and he retired in January 2024.
Authorities say that after Remiker retired, an audit in February 2024 found thousands of dollars were not deposited into designated accounts.

Court records show that Remiker was charged with resisting or obstructing an officer, and on June 12, he was court-ordered to pay $15,521.70 to the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office in restitution. The restitution amount was reportedly paid in full before Thursday’s court hearing.
Remiker was also ordered to pay $1,108 in fines by August 12.
During the hearing, the court also expressed concerns that the “facts of the Criminal Complaint do not precisely align with the charge that the defendant plead to but are conceptually aligned with the conduct alleged therein.” The judge requested that the parties give an explanation as to why this amendment is appropriate.
